Campground Review:

The San Antonio/Alamo KOA is a KOA Holiday campground located 10 minutes from downtown San Antonio. Resort amenities include full-hookups, pool, camp store and dog playground. The park offers plenty of green space and access to the Salado Creek Greenway Trail system for walking and biking. Our dogs loved their daily walks along the trail. The park is also on the city bus line for easy access to downtown San Antonio.

What to do:

  • Explore the dog-friendly Riverwalk; walk the riverside paths; eat, shop & drink; take a guided river barge tour
  • Drive to the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, which includes four Spanish colonial missions along the San Antonio River (leave the dogs at home for this tour)
  • Tour The Alamo in downtown San Antonio and explore the Alamo gardens (only service animals allowed)
  • Sample beers at one (or two) of the many craft breweries in San Antonio; we enjoyed German style beer and food at the dog-friendly  Kuenstler Brewing
  • Visit nearby New Braunfels in Texas Hill Country for German-themed restaurants, breweries and wineries; try the dog-friendly Muck and Fuss Restaurant for craft beers and great food and the Winery on the Gruene

Chili & Cedar’s Review:

We loved the San Antonio-Alamo KOA! We walked every day on the Salado Creek Greenway Trail. There was plenty of green space and lot of places to walk in the campground too. The campground also had a dog playground – woof!
