An Amazing, Dog-friendly, Colorado Springs RV Stay
There is so much to see and do in Colorado Springs! Nestled at the foot of Pikes Peak in the southern Rockies, Colorado Springs is surrounded by beauty. Hiking trails abound this area. Adventurous hikers can summit the 14,000+ feet Pikes Peak. Others can drive, bike or take the tram to the top. The dog-friendly Gardens of the Gods is a scenic day hike Colorado Springs is definitely for the outdoor enthusiasts and so many activities are dog friendly – woof!
Great Sand Dunes National Park
Who knew there was a Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado? With the backdrop of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the great sand dunes are North America’s tallest dunes. We crossed the Medano Creek to access the dog-friendly dune field. Our RV stay in nearby Alamosa provided a great location to visit this unique national park.
Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park
Spectacular Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park features near-vertical walls carved by the Gunnison River. Located in western Colorado near Montrose, the black rock canyon offers spectacular views hiking trails, rock climbing, kayaking and rafting. The canyon can be viewed from numerous overlooks on the South and North Rim Roads. Riverbend RV Park in Montrose is a great RV stay to see the Black Canyon and local attractions.
Exploring Colorado Wine Country in Scenic Palisade
Palisade on Colorado’s western slope is a scenic small town with over 30 wineries and vineyards. Located 30 minutes Palisade and just outside Grand Junction, the Colorado National Monument is a great day trip to experience panoramic canyons and stunning views. The Palisade Basecamp RV Resort is a great RV stay in Palisade, close to wineries and local attractions.
Amazing Arches and Canyonlands National Parks
Moab Utah, is surrounded by the beauty of Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. This recreational area is known for 4-wheel drive trails and backcountry adventures. Arches features several hiking trails to spectacular stone arches and Canyonlands consists of massive canyons crarved by the Colorado and Green Rivers.
More Utah Beauty: Capitol Reef National Park
Capitol Reef National Park is another amazing park in southern Utah. With tons of hiking trails, historic orchards and fresh baked pie, Capitol Reef is a great place to explore the natural wonders of the Waterpocket Fold. We loved our RV site at Wonderland RV Park in Torrey. Not many hiking options for the dogs, but they loved their drive through the park. And Torrey is home to the best food truck hamburger, ever!
Our Favorite National Park: Spectacular Bryce Canyon
We were just mezmerized by the beauty of Bryce Canyon National Park! The hoodoo forests litterally take your breath away. Our April visit was chilly but the snow added another dimension to the landscape. Bryce Canyon can be viewed from several scenic overlooks, trails and by the air. Our stay at the historic Ruby’s Inn RV Park & Campground provided a great location to explore the park and local attractions.
Spectacular Hikes & Incredible Vistas: Zion National Park RV Stay
Zion National Park has some of the most famous hikes in the country and with amazing scenic drives and breathtaking overlooks, it is one of the busiest national parks. April is a great time to visit with fewer crowds but you run the risk of trails being closed. Our RV stay at Zion River Resort RV Park & Campground in Virgin, Utah, was great!
A Monumental Valley Visit in Goulding, Utah
Stunning Monument Valley and Valley of the Gods in Golding, Utah is breathtaking. The red sandstone buttes and canyons provide days of scenic road trips and exploring opportunities. Goulding’s RV Park is a great Monument Valley RV stay.
Amazing Historical Wonders in Mesa Verde National Park
Mesa Verde National Park in southwestern Colorado preserves the history of the ancestral Pueblo people. The park features amazing historical wonders including over 600 cliff dwellings built around AD 1200. The nearby Hovenweep National Monument consists of standing towers and villages built by the Puebloans. The Views RV Park & Campground in Dolores is a wonderful RV stay with beautiful views.
Stunning Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend near Lake Powell, Arizona
Page, Arizona is home to several must-see natural and man-made wonders: Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Glen Canyon Recreational Area, Lake Powell, and the Glen Canyon Dam. We really enjoyed our stay at the Wahweap RV and Campground with Lake Powell views and access.
Spectacular Grand Canyon National Park
The views of the Grand Canyon never get old – each overlook and viewpoint is unique and truly amazing. We hiked the easy, dog-friendly Rim Trail every day of our stay and could have stayed several more days to experience the entire Rim Trail. We opted not to hike into the canyon, as do 99% of visitors to the park, and viewed the park from the rim. Our stay at the Trailer Village RV Park, in the National Park, was perfect location to explore this natural wonder.
A Great RV Stay in Las Vegas
Las Vegas is a fun RV stay! The Oasis Las Vegas RV resort is located a few miles south of the Strip. This full amenity resort is the perfect location to enjoy all the Vegas attractions. No need to mention the casinos, shows, downtown Vegas – all a short drive or Uber trip away. The Hoover Dam and the dog-friendly Lake Mead Recreation Area are a short drive away.
Casa Grande, Arizona RV Stay, Saguaro National Park
Located halfway between Phoenix and Tuscon, Casa Grande offers a good location to explore the Seguaro National Park and the Casa Grande Ruins. Palm Creek Golf & RV Resort in Casa Grande is a very nice RV stay with resort amenities.
Absolutely Stunning Sedona, Arizona
Surrounded by towering red rocks and sandstone buttes, Sedona is just mesmerizing. The area is known for hiking, shopping and a thriving art community. Several national monuments are a day’s drive to include Tuzigoot, Montezuma Castle, Walnut Canyon, Wupatki and Sunset Crater Volcano. The nearby Verde Valley Wine trail leads to several excellent wineries and tasting rooms. We found several dog-friendly trails, restaurants and breweries during our stay. The Rancho Sedona RV Park provided an excellent location to explore the area.
Taking It Easy In Winslow, Arizona
“Standing on the corner in Winslow, Arizona, such a fine sight to see…” The corner is real to include the flatbed Ford! Winslow is located about 57 miles southeast of Flagstaff along Highway 66. Nearby sights include the Petrified Forest National Park and the Meteor Crater.
Sunny Santa Fe, New Mexico
Simply stunning, Santa Fe, New Mexico! Nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Santa Fe sits at 7,000 feet elevation with 320+ days of sunshine and breathtaking landscapes. The cultural influence of Native American, Hispanic, Mexican and Anglo shapes the architecture, cuisine and art of this capital city. From skiing, biking, hiking and rafting, there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy. Our stay at the Santa Fe Skies RV Park offered a great location to explore the area.
Beautiful White Sands National Park
White Sands National Park is an unbelievable oasis of white sand dunes in the New Mexico high desert. This park is also very dog friendly, allowing dogs on leashes on all trails and dunes – woof! Our stay at the Alamogordo/White Sands KOA Journey provided a great location to see area attractions. With the Sacramento Mountains as a backdrop, Alamogordo has the rugged beauty of a high desert town.
